Patience...

Guys, when I conceived the idea of writing this blog, I had designs of sharing with you experiences of my past. Of my interactions with True artists and True art in all its forms. But today, I learnt a new lesson and would want to share this fresh dew drop with you, right away.. :)

To learn light music(vocal), I went to my class like any other Sunday. My teacher had plans of changing the strings of his Tanpura which he had not done since the last one year, may be. And he asked me to do this whole thing. Now the process is simple. (Well, I can not pen it. So, you guys may refer to some article which teaches you the same). The real job is the tuning part. Your ears have to be absolutely sharp. No other word. no other option. The whole thing took me about an hour. Amidst all this, there came a point... when I just lost my patience and said, "when the hell is this wire going to get tuned?"... and the very next moment i felt "oh my what did I say?".... It is an instrument... 'tis like a deity. It needs to be worshipped.. and not screamed at."

After about 15-20 minutes the instrument was tuned... somehow, I could do a bit. And then,my music teacher sat for the fine tuning. Guys, I tell you the honest thoughts that came to my mind. I literally bowed before the Tanpura and said, "I bow before thee. Please get tuned". And my teacher... he gave a cute smile and said. "This is the first thing that music teaches you. Patience and Humility. You need to have patience and the attitude to bow before your art, another artist, before everything that exists in the world. :) Only then, you can become an artist."

I believe this is the treasure that art has bestowed upon me. It has carved out a good human being from me. Indeed, I am really lucky to be an artist. :)
